Advertising production will be outsourced to a Pennsylvania company. An outbound call center for the The Grand Rapids Press, Muskegon Chronicle and Kalamazoo Gazette will be consolidated in Kalamazoo, and copy editing, design and printing for the three papers will be consolidated in Grand Rapids. A Gazette employee reports more than 70 people will be laid off at the packing department alone; layoffs are expected to affect other departments too.
