218+ layoffs added in February

Posted 03.02.10 • Paper Cuts

Can you help fill in information? Leave a comment or e-mail me at newspaperlayoffs@gmail.com. Thanks to a tip, previously unknown numbers have been filled in for The Telegraph.

Five newspapers have closed; none was a daily paper.

And in, perhaps, a sign of the times, Peter Parker will be laid off from The Daily Bugle this week. The ultimate web producer, you might also know him as Spider-Man.

Layoff tips (comic book related or real) are always welcome — leave a comment or send me an e-mail. If you’re interested in other newspaper shenanigans (as well as layoff updates), join Paper Cuts on Twitter (@newscuts) and Facebook (fb.me/newscuts/).

I find it odd that I cannot find anything, and I mean anything, related to the layoffs happening within the Forum Communications family, specifically the Bemidji Pioneer. 18 jobs are to be cut after the May 2 printing and production operations will be moved to the Detroit Lakes plant.
