Two months into the new year, and the layoff/buyout total stands at 1,031+ jobs. Only 218 layoffs were added in February — “only” because it is, without a doubt, a much slower pace than the past two years.

- The Onion
- Whitehorse Community News
- Berkeley Daily Planet
- The Sentinel
Five newspapers have closed; none was a daily paper.
And in, perhaps, a sign of the times, Peter Parker will be laid off from The Daily Bugle this week. The ultimate web producer, you might also know him as Spider-Man.
