A judge has approved the sale of the paper, which will be finalized by the end of March. At least 20 newsroom employees have been laid off, including everyone on the business desk, most copy editors and all but one photographer. Sources told Heat City that only 14 newsroom employees will be retained after the sale. The number of layoffs outside of the newsroom is not known.
