Gannett’s 700-layoffs announcement confirmed what I’ve been thinking for a couple of months: It’s time to resurrect Paper Cuts.
If I had to guess, I’d say there have been 1,200 to 1,500 layoffs at newspapers so far this year. I’m going to start updating the site now, starting with January. We’ll see how close that guess is.
I have tried to keep track, via emails and bookmarks and random notes, of the layoffs in the past six months, but tips are always welcome. As always, anonymity is guaranteed. Story links and tips can be sent to newspaperlayoffs@gmail.com, or via tweet or direct message to @newscuts. Thanks.
