The three weekly papers have closed; eight employees were laid off. The Springville Herald was the oldest of the three — it was founded in 1891. Daily Herald publisher and president Rona Rahlf, who oversaw the now-closed papers, said the move was a “strategic decision to provide more content more often for south-county readers.” “Instead of waiting for their news once a week, they’ll get it in the Daily Herald seven days a week,” Rahlf said. The Daily Herald is located in Provo, Utah.
