Design and copy editing for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Austin American Statesman, Dayton Daily News and Palm Beach Post will be consolidated in Florida and Ohio. The wire desk for the four papers will be consolidated in Atlanta. “For us to stay competitive, it is important to continually evaluate all aspects of our business to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible while providing the highest quality products and services to our customers,” AJC publisher Mike Joseph said in a letter to employees. The letter did not say how many employees would be laid off. The AJC now employs 2,546 people.
