The Register Star reported 19 employees were laid off. Other sources have reported that number is higher. A story on the Register Star site said “The newspaper also made staffing and operational changes in May and June;” it is not clear if those changes included layoffs. The story did not offer details, but Paper Cuts tips report 13 newsroom employees were laid off, including six copy editors, two clerks, one reporter, one graphic artist and an assistant to the executive editor.
